After being rereferred earlier this week, the Senate Committee on Federal and State Affairs amended SB 291 (ESG investment restrictions) and recommended the bill favorably for passage as amended. The bill is now back on the Senate floor, ready for debate by the full chamber.  

The Senate has five KPERS bills in the queue for floor debate, but none are scheduled for debate today. The bills on the Senate floor include:
  • HB 2196 (KP&F DROP expansion)
  • HB 2198 (KP&F coverage for KDWP officers)
  • SB 23 (15% alternatives cap)
  • SB 172 ($6,000 retiree death benefit)

KPERS Related Bills 
  KP&F coverage for Department of Corrections security officers. Expanding the KPERS 3 self-funded COLA option to KPERS 1 and KPERS 2 members.  Include juvenile corrections officers in the definition of corrections officers for coverage in the KPERS-Correctional plan. Eliminating the 15% cap on alternative investments and delegating selection of the alternatives cap to the Board of Trustees.
  Authorizing transfers of unclaimed property funds from the State Treasurer for management by the KPERS Board of Trustees.
