When Can You Retire?

KPERS Tier 2 - Correctional

As a Correctional member, you may be eligible to retire at an earlier age than regular KPERS members. To qualify, you must work in a Group A or B position for at least three years immediately before retirement and retire the first day of the month following your last day on the payroll.

Group A generally includes most corrections officers and their supervisors.

Group B generally includes correctional institution employees in certain power plant positions, correctional industries, food service supervision or maintenance operation supervision who have regular contact with inmates.

If your position is not Group A or B, or you left employment before retiring, you are a regular KPERS member. Please see the regular KPERS age and service qualifications.
