Sorry for Lack of Communication                                
The federal government made changes in the tax tables affecting how much tax is deducted from monthly benefit payments. This change took affect with your recent February benefit.

Due to technical difficulties, the letter notifying retirees of the change went out at the same time as the actual payment. We are sorry for any problems this may have caused. We realize that for some members it was a significant issue.

You Can Change Withholding Anytime
You can control how much tax is withheld by making a change with the member web portal or by filing a Withholding Certificate for Pension Benefit Payments (Substitute W-4P) form with KPERS.

Online Withholding Changes
Changes on the member web portal are effective immediately. To access your personal account the first time you must enroll. It takes two to three minutes and you’ll only have to do it once. Enrollment lets us identify you and protects your personal information. After that, you can login anytime using the user ID and password you set up.
