  3. Letters for new members starting soon
  4. Online enrollment replacing Report of Member Status (KPERS-1)
    paper form

1.  Communicating  with KPERS

  • KPERS has created an e-mail address just for employers, employers@kpers.org.
Continue to have members to use kpers@kpers.org.
  • Important: Any time you call or e-mail, please provide your KPERS employer number.

    Employer name field
    Employer number: xxxx-x

  • Having a designated agent and additional signers on record at KPERS lets us know who is authorized to do business. It’s important that DAs and additional signers are the ones contacting KPERS for your employer. If you received this e-mail, you are either a DA or an additional signer. You can use the Designation of Agent form (KPERS-2) at www.kpers.org/forms.htm#employerforms to add and remove signers.

2. Employer workshops

KPERS is holding employer workshops across the state this fall. We’ll cover new benefit information and provide a refresher on other topics. This year is especially important because of new Tier 2 benefits. Workshops begin September 29. Check www.kpers.org/damemos081309.htm for the most convenient location.

Pre-registration required.

E-mail:  employers@kpers.org
Call: 1-888-275-5737

We’ll need:

  1. Employer name
  2. Employer number
  3. Your e-mail address
  4. Names of staff attending
  5. Workshop date and workshop location

3. Letters starting soon for new members

In August, KPERS will begin sending welcome letters to new members. As they arrive in your office, please pass them on to the member. In each letter, we’ll enclose a Benefits at a Glance publication.

4. Try enrollments on the employer web portal

If you haven’t already, give online member enrollment a try. You can complete enrollments on the portal instead of sending a paper Report of Member Status (KPERS-1) form. You can do this for new members, transfers and employees returning to payroll. Call us if you need any help and we’ll walk you through it.

3 Reasons to give it a try

  • Provides a self-check to highlight any issues.
  • Frees you from the “back and forth” of paper forms.
  • Gives tier status quickly. If no errors, available in the system the next day.
