2005 Designated Agent Workshops
Each fall, KPERS has workshops across the state for designated agents. These workshops cover any new benefit information and provide a refresher course for KPERS topics. This year, our designated agent workshops will start September 27. Please check the enclosed schedule for the location nearest you.
Each workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and end at approximately 4 p.m. Please bring your designated agent workshop manual from last year with you. We will only replace pages with changes. Please contact the InfoLine if you need a new manual.
Tentative Schedule
Morning session
- Membership
- Beneficiaries – separate beneficiaries for KPERS benefits and life insurance
- Optional group life insurance – affiliation change
- Surviving spouse benefit option change – eligibility requirement reduced to ten years
- Disability plan design – immediate changes and changes effective January 1, 2006
Afternoon session
- Service purchases
- Contribution reporting
- Retirement

Seating is limited at certain locations, so please pre-register. The location schedule has a registration form. You can also register by e-mail, kpers@kpers.org, or call our toll-free number at (888) 275-5737. Give us the name of your employer, names of people attending from your employer, and the date and location of the workshop you would like to attend.
Please encourage all your staff working with KPERS matters to attend.

P.S. Next spring, KPERS will again offer “The ABCs of Being a DA.” This workshop covers the basics for new designated agents and others of you who would like additional training beyond our regular workshops. We’ll let you know when the schedule is available early next year.
