2007 Designated Agent Workshops

Each fall, KPERS has workshops across the state for designated agents and other staff who work with KPERS. These workshops cover any new benefit information and provide a refresher course for KPERS topics. Our 2007 designated agent workshops will begin September 18. Check the enclosed schedule for the location nearest you.

Each workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and end at approximately 4:30 p.m. You do not need to bring your designated agent workshop manual with you. We will provide a handout for the day.

Morning Session
  • What’s available on KPERS’ web site and on the employer web portal
  • Membership (enrolling employees using the employer web portal)
  • Preview of KPERS’ new plan design, effective July 2009
  • Beneficiaries
  • Disability benefits (new form)

  • Optional group life insurance
  • Withdrawal
Afternoon Session
  • Purchasing service credit
  • Retirement estimates using KPERS’ web site
  • Retirement (V-letter on the employer web portal)
  • Arrearage (KPERS-17 on the employer web portal helps you decide arrearage type)
  • Electronic funds transfer (EFT reporting on the employer web portal)
  • Working after retirement reporting

After the regular workshop sessions, there will be a question and answer session for those of you who
want additional help with the employer web portal.

We’ll need the following information: Employer name and number, your e-mail address, names of staff attending, workshop date, and workshop location. Seating is limited at certain locations. Please register to ensure we will have enough seating for everyone.
