KPERS Welcomes New Trustees

Christopher Long – Mission Hills, KS

Christopher Long was appointed to KPERS' Board of Trustees in September by Governor Sam Brownback. Mr. Long is the president of Palmer Square Capital.

Terry Matlack – Shawnee, KS

Terry Matlack was appointed to KPERS’ Board of Trustees in May by Governor Sam Brownback.
Mr. Matlack is the Managing Director at Tortoise Capital Advisors, LLC.

Doug Mays – Topeka, KS

Doug Mays was appointed to KPERS’ Board of Trustees in July by Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal. 
Mr. Mays is the owner of Doug Mays & Associates, LLC.

The Board of Trustees directs and oversees the Retirement System. The Board of Trustees has nine members, each serving a four-year term:

• Four are appointed by the Governor
• One appointed by the President of the Senate
• One appointed by the Speaker of the House
• Two elected by Retirement System members
• One is the elected State Treasurer
