What Are Your KP&F Benefits?
Throughout your career, you contribute part of your salary to the Retirement System. Your employer also contributes. You automatically earn service credit for the years you work in a covered position. When you have earned enough service credit, you are guaranteed a monthly retirement benefit for the rest of your life. This is called "vesting" your benefit. If you leave before retirement, you can take your contributions plus interest, but not employer contributions.
In addition to retirement benefits, KP&F also provides long-term disability and death benefits while you are working. You can also buy optional life insurance if your employer has affiliated for it.
